Shorts and t-shirts will be fine. Some of the fighters practice in
period clothing, but most of us wear mundane gear to Populace in the
Park unless we're having a tourney or something. (For instance, we're
having an A&S display next Tuesday [August 7th], so many of us will be
wearing medieval or Renaissance clothing then.)

We gather 'round a tennis court. On the court to one side of the net
our armored fighters will be practicing. They wear helmets and whack
each other with sticks. On the court to the other side of the net our
rapier fighters will be practicing. They wear mesh masks and poke each
other with bated swords and fencing foils. Along one edge of the
court, on the grass, will be arranged chairs and blankets on which
various members of the populace will sit, chatting and sometimes
watching the fighters practice or working on some handicraft. Others
will stand, doing the same.

The current issue of the newsletter will be on a table near the end of
the net, and anybody who wants one is encouraged to take a copy.
(There's no charge.) There will probably be another table somewhere
nearby with snacks on it. They, too, are free to all comers. Tonight,
Gretchen has indicated she'll be bringing a birthday cake for Eleanor
(who's turning one), as well.

On the opposite side of the tennis court from the bulk of the populace
are a handful of concrete picnic tables. One of them will play host
tonight to a kids' embroidery class. It's free, too, and anybody
mature enough to safely use a needle and scissors can participate.
(Kids under 5 have to bring their own adults with them, though.) There
may be a meeting or two at one of the other tables. (I'm not sure
whether anything's planned this week.)

Do come! We look forward to meeting you both.
