Subject: OT - Mini-Daschund needs a home

This adorable miniature black-and-tan male full-blood daschund was
abandoned in my neighborhood and I have taken him in temporarily. I
assume he was abandoned because he has no tags, I cannot find anyone
advertising for him in any way, and he is heartworm positive, which is
expensive to treat. Through a pet rescue group, I believe I will be
able to get him treated for cheap or free. I am willing to foster him
through his medical treatments, then he needs a new, loving home.

If you are interested, or know anyone else who might take this young man
when he is well, please let me know and/or pass this on.

He has no other health problems, according to my vet, except that his
teeth could use a cleaning. I have already gotten him a rabies shot and
Parvo-Distemper will be next Monday. The vet estimates his is 3-5 years
old. He 's a good balance of both active and laid back.

He weighs 10 lbs. (tiny). He is friendly to my female daschund (though
she is appalled at another dog in her house.) He showed interest in my
neighbor's cats and would probably co-exist well if the cat was laid
back (-- they weren't). He has interacted well with my two under-10 yrs
old, bouncy grandsons. I have not had him around a big dog yet. He
walks well on a leash and loves to go for car rides. On one long ride,
he curled up and went to sleep. He likes both men and women. He's very
affectionate, generous with kisses, and has played with me a bit, but he
does not know what a ball is for. He might need some house training, if
you want to keep him indoors, but he is smart and learns quickly when I
try to teach him new "rules." He has no "doggy" odor. He came to me
clean and well-groomed, though very hungry after about a week living in
the empty lot next door. Don't expect to keep him off the furniture, as
he already owns all of mine. In fact, I call him Billy - as in billy
goat - because he hops onto my recliner and walks straight up the back
of it to perch right on top most of the time.
