I'm as frustrated as many of you are over the weather/practice situation (well, probably not as much as Martel <g>).  However, I strongly recommend against doing a practice under the 41st St Overpass and absolutely will not give it SCA sanction.  
   
  This is not a suitable place to have a SCA practice.  The area is frequented by the homeless (especially during rainstorms), covered in broken glass (bottles and accident debris), gets excessive runoff from the upper-deck, has uneven pavement, has a turnaround lane within it and you have to walk across an access road to a major highway to get to it.
   
  Overpasses are either city, county or TXDoT property (hence the storage facility under the MoPac/Hwy183 Exchange).  I am VERY certain that you need permission to loiter there, you probably need multiple permissions.  You will without a doubt be highly visible and  attract the attention of the Austin Police Department.  APD will likely tell you to move on or worse.
   
  The Barony of Madrone (Seattle) in An Tir does practice under an overpass.  I have in fact been to one of their practices.  However, that overpass is a large Park and Ride for King County Metro Transit.  It is a parking lot, not an actual underbelly of an overpass.  It used by commuters and empties out after 6pm allowing plenty of room for them to practice there.  It is patrolled by KCMT Police and whether or not the SCA has permission, KCMT is aware of their presence.  Unfortunately, none of Capital Metro's Park & Rides are covered.  Besides, having worked for Capital Metro for a number of years, I'm doubtful they would have allow us to practice on their property due to liability issues.
   
  I applaud everyone's efforts to  find a rainout location for Fighter Practice.  I too very much want to have a place to go if this Tuesday rainout ritual continues.
