There's a book showing polyclay reproductions of jewelry from museum masterpieces:
Creating Your Own Jewelry by Cris Dupoy
http://www.amazon.com/Creating-Your-Own-Jewelry-Masterpieces/dp/1584793597/ref=sr_1_3/102-8440727-3436937?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1178301422&sr=1-3

Half-Price has several copies of it. The samples shown are often rather crude in
workmanship (visible fingerprints, etc.), but the idea is cool, and the author has
chosen some interesting pieces, including very early period stuff. Worth the money,
if only as an idea-starter.

In this month's Italian Showcase on the Realm of Venus, I notice that the showcased seamstress created her own faux jewelry using polymer clay. Thought it was an interesting idea!
