[Bryn-gwlad] OT Darkon Movie

The one interesting feature they had was the way they
combined old style strategic board gaming with the
live action game, character advancement, wealth and
territorial boundries of thier chapters... if the SCA
had a 'stealing innovative ideas' department that part
would be worth looking at.

as to the rest.. you may want to give that a miss...
visually speaking nothing touches the SCA for size and
spectacle. it was OK (when i saw it with friends at
the alamo close to a year ago I think...) but a bit of
a 'not worth the ticket price' feeling was with me as
I left.

Next Monday the Independent Film Channel is premiering
a new original 
documentary called "Darkon"

really S.C.A.-related; it's about live-action
role-playing gamers.  But
 
the trailer features a big battle fought with padded
arrows and 
cloth-covered shields and other gear that resembles
what SCAdians use 
for heavy fighting (to my untutored eye), and the site
mentions people 
"who don't let what they do from nine-to-five define
who they are".  It
 
looked like something that might interest some of the
barony's 
residents.
