Ah cool,

I've been playing with Brass etching of late (so far I've etched the
image on and '82 land cruiser), this seemed like an

Interesting excuse to play with it some more...

Are there any other interesting board types other than 9 man morris and
Fox and the hens that folks can point to online?

Obviously chess is period, what about checkers and backgammon?

If anyone has any links to particularly attractive black and white
drawings of boards I'd greatly appreciate a mention.

I know I'm coming into this late... so excuse me if I'm causing a rehash
of already covered topics.

If I remember correctly, baronies are asked to provide gifts for the
crown to give to other crowns at Gulf Wars. Shires are asked to do the
same for Pennsic. 

The barony decided to provide games as our gift for the next Gulf Wars.
Dreda is organizing the creation of the games. I believe it was decided
to use boxes instead of fabric or boards. I'm not sure which games were
decided on. 

I have been making wooden game boards but find that they are heavier and
harder to pack than fabric ones. They also don't lend themselves to
spontaneous games because you can't carry them with you easily.  I might
switch to fabric drawstring sets in the future when I finish my stock of
boards. If I make them so they can be drawn up into a pouch, I can hang
it from my belt and carry it with me instead of having to go back to
camp to get the board and stuff.
