[Bryn-gwlad] ACF Demos and Things

I was considering going to
Three Kings but I would rather set up at the ACF.? It would be fun to
take my jewelry tools out and do a demo type thing.? If I could have a
table of stock out, it would be all the better (but not necessary).?
Likewise the upcoming park demo. In both cases the stock is as good a
demo as a static display and selling it (particularly at ACF) avoids to
awkwardness of saying "yes I sell it, no you can't buy it". I can put
out leatherwork, jewelry, amour, and books showing were the stuff comes
from. All stuff I made and can talk about.? Ought to be a pretty good
hook for crafty types.

Jessie could be doing some Viking/Anglo Saxon/Medieval necklaces
(beads) with reference material out and if some other artisan wants to
set up under the pavilion we could add them.? There or somewhere else
it might be fun to have our cooks put out samplers and talk about
period food (turkey legs and potatoes, you know).? It would be nice to
have a fiber arts person doing something, perhaps Gweneth?? She is
small and wouldn't take much space:)

Sorry this isn't more organized but I'm writing as I think...

I'm trying to remember way back...and I've had a kid since then and you know what that does to your memory.

?

I seem to remember that when ACF was?starting up?that we were doing a renaissance themed fair to benefit the Wilderness Basin at Waterloo. It was decided back then that it was too much to try to do both fairs and Ffynnon Gath stepped up to take over the ACF. I could be completely wrong because this was back in like...93? The Wilderness Basin fair faded but ACF took off.

?

Just what I think I remember,

I've only ever been to the demo last year, so I don't know what
history it may have. Last year was mostly fighting and kids playing

fight-the-knight. I don't *think* there was any kind of A&S display,
but I could be wrong on that. We could probably have done nothing
*but* fight-the-knight and still kept busy (at least until the
fighters were exhausted. <G>)

One thing in ACF's favor when compared to a school demo is that it's
on a weekend, which means that it will conflict with fewer work
schedules so more people should be able to attend. The downside is

that it's against Three Kings and a lot of folks are planning to go to that.

Personally, I had a good time last year, and even if we don't do a
demo, I plan to go back this year.
