So I started two batches a week an a half ago. An Oktoberfest and a Belgian white.
As always I move my beer from the bucket I ferment in to a glass carboy.
When I opened up the Belgian white it looked like all the yeast was at the top of the beer.
I did notice that this was a very active brew. The yeast was very thick and pasty. I went ahead and collected it.
After siphoning the beer into the glass carboy I noticed that there was hardly any yeast at the bottom on this batch.
Mostly debris from the hops.
I find it strange that the yeast almost all rose to the top. This has never happened to me before.
I was curious if anyone has had this happen before.
In truth it made for some very clean yeast harvest.
