[Bryn-gwlad] Looking for: Pattern for Fencing waistcoat

Hi Jason,

My husband, Rurik the Red, layers his clothes, so each garment does not need
a bazillion layers. There is a cotehardie which is lined, a pourpoint that
is lined, and a shirt, all made of 5.3 oz linen. This gives him 5 layers,
but since it's in separate garments, he can choose his layers. For him, 3
layers of 5.3 oz linen passes a drop test, so if it is very warm, he can get
by with just the cotehardie and shirt.

Fabrics Store.com has some lovely linen in fabulous colors. They also have
wonderful customer service. Their linen is not of the highest quality,
which is why we can afford it. :) There are a few slubs in it
occasionally. Silk Road in Austin has some higher quality linen, but not as
good a selection, and it is about 3 times the cost of what is on line. If
you want some really extraordinary linen, and money is no object, I can find
perfect linen in all sorts of weights in Belgium. Someday I will get linen
gauze when I have $100+ to spend on it...
