We had a request to publish a summary of business meetings to the list so
that those who could not attend would know what was going on. I am
attempting to do so on a trial basis. If this is helpful to people, we will
try to continue. Please note that this is NOT an official record. This is
provided for information only. I have attempted to keep the information
provided as accurate as possible; however, no attempt was made to produce a
complete record of all discussion.

Minutes of April Baronial Business Meeting
Officers' reports
Seneschal (Lady Emeline):
Make sure you sign a waiver at practice if you don't have a blue card.
Waivers need to be collected at Sunday practices whenever there is official
fighting as well as at regular Tuesday practices.
Officer applications due at the April meeting:
Seneschal--1 application received.
Quartermaster--Lady Isabella is the new Quartermaster.
Archery Marshal--no applications received; office will remain open for
applications
Rapier Marshal--Lady Dominika is the new Rapier Marshal
Officer applications due at the June meeting:
Chronicler
Minister of Children
Youth Combat Marshal
Chirurgeon
Recruitment/Retention Steering Committee: This will be composed of the
Baron and Baroness, Seneschal (and deputy), Hospitaller (and deputy), and
three at-large members. The three at-large members will be Master Eule,
Mistress Ariella, and Lord Thomas of Conway.
Treasurer (Lady Gretchen): not present. We still have money.
Hospitaller (Lady Ilariia): We have lots of new people. There are no demos
coming up.
Chronicler (HL Sosha): She will be stepping down in July. Deadline for
content for the next newsletter is the 21st.
Historian (Lord Goldweard): He is working on forms for monthly activities,
such as awards and competitions. He is looking for stories.
A&S (HL Amata): Lord Rurik won the A&S competition at Emerald Keep.
Several people did A&S at Gulf Wars. The Dance Guild is having a mini-revel
in May. The Scribes Guild is now having two meetings, one for design and
one for charter painting. Baroness Kezia is taking over as A&S Minister.
Rapier Marshal (Lord Ceallach): There was rapier at Gulf Wars. Baron Avery
won the Gulf Wars Trimarian Rapier Tournament. Lord
Rurik won the Emerald Keep rapier tournament. Lady Dominika is the new
Rapier Marshal.
Knight Marshal (Sir Giotto): not present. Knight School is this Tuesday.
He needs someone to send reports for Sunday practices.
Archery Marshal (Lord Jason): not present. Archery is going strong at
Sunday practices. They are in need of loaner arrows; if you have any
"orphaned" arrows, please donate them.
Equerry (Master Chretien): The new arena is completed. They are preparing
for their first official practice Sunday, May 19. Practices will happen
monthly. Master Eule won several tournaments at Gulf Wars.
Minister of Children (Lord Vilhialmr): He has received his background
check.
Chirurgeon (Lord Alfred): There have been no injuries. Chirurgeons who
have let their authorizations lapse are encouraged to re-authorize. He will
be stepping down soon.
Quartermaster (Lord Thomas): We have money and equipment. Lady Isabella is
the new Quartermaster.
Events:
Lysts at Castleton: Sir Giotto, the autocrat, was not present. Several
staff positions are still needed: Set-up Coordinator, Take-down
Coordinator, Traffic Control Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator. Event
profits will be distributed to participating groups based on number
of volunteer hours worked.
His Excellency said that Her Royal Highness, Princess Ebergardis, contacted
him last week about the possibility of holding her Queen's Champion
Tournament at Castleton. The site is available that weekend, July 18-20.
The Barony voted to host the event. Master Eule volunteered to autocrat.
Master Eule requested that the Baron's Men be allowed to stage a production
of "A Lion in Winter" at the Fall Baronial Event. This will be discussed
with the autocrat.
Summary of Event Bids for Fall Baronial:
Lord Goldweard: A trade agreement has been signed between the artisans and
merchants. The scroll has been lost. Merchants and artisans take to the
streets. Pandemonium ensues. A quest will be held with hidden clues to
discover the missing scroll. Various melees will be held. A feast will be
prepared by Lord Wolf.
Lord Johann: The year is 1588. Sir Francis Drake has stopped in Castleton
on the way back from the Armada. A festival is held in his honor. Spanish
ambassadors are also present. Assassination attempts may occur. Various
tournaments will be held. A feast will be prepared by Lord Wolf.
Lord Rurik: The year is 1493. Columbus has returned from the New World
with reports of great treasure. There is a mad rush to the New World in
search of riches. Three captains, from Spain, England, and Portugal, amass
armies to fight each other and the natives. A feast will be prepared by
Lord Ceallach.
Lady Sharon and Lady AEtheldreda: A tournament at the Oasis of the Crimson
Sands is to be held with Richard the Lionhearted and Saladin present. There
will be tournaments between the Franks and the Saracens. There will be
dancing and a hafla. A feast will be prepared by Lord Alfred.
The Barony voted to host the Tournament at the Oasis of the Crimson Sands.
