Greetings Bryn Gwlad!
The kitchen was blessed with some wonderful help this past weekend!
I would like to thank everyone who helped. I did not get everyone's
name so if I left off your name, please email me! These are just a
few of the people who helped make feast possible this past Saturday.
Everyone who helped has my undying thanks! Without you, there would
have been no feast!
First, I would like to thank all the tween and teen kids that helped
in the kitchen. Unfortunately, I did not get most of your names.
Parents, thank you so much for sharing your children with me. You
have awesome kids who didn't hesitate when asked to do any job.
Without their invaluable help, we simply could not have gotten all
the veggies peeled and chopped in time for the feast. They also
helped clean dishes during the day. These kids then went on to serve
the drinks at dinner! Many of them also helped with the drying once
Alina started the final washing up. We have the best bunch of kids
in the known world!
I would also like to thank my husband, Jehan, who helped collect all
the cooking supplies from the shed and our house and made sure they
got to the site and unloaded. He also ran to the store to get last
minute supplies and then left the event to take care of our sick
daughter. At the end of the event, he came back to load all the
kitchen stuff back in the car! Jehan and my son, Samuel, also helped
stud all the pork loin with garlic and rub it with the spice rub late
Friday evening while I was baking the cakes. My son also helped watch
his sister in the morning, then came out to the event to help in the
kitchen, help serve drinks and then help clean up.
My apprentice, Elrique, took off from his busy work schedule to drive
up here from Bordermarch to help. He helped Friday night peeling and
cutting garlic and then spent all day Saturday in the kitchen doing
all sorts of tasks that needed to happen. Thank you, Elrique!
Baron Niklas devoted the entire day to the kitchen chopping, cutting
and cooking! Niklas also baked some wonderful bread for high table!
Niklas and Elrique saved the roasted veggies when they wouldn't cook
in the ovens by sauteing them on the stove at the last minute!
Niklas, you are wonderful - thank you!
Mistress Meadbhb spent most of the day in the kitchen as well as gave
a class! She helped cut up the meat and veggies and took over the
task of preparing the Cabbage dish. She also help dish up the feast
as well. Thank you!
Sosha started early in the morning cutting up lots of meat. Then, she
moved on to chopping various vegetables - at one time deciding to
wear a few cabbage leaves as decoration! Her cheerful smile made the
day go much quicker and made the many kitchen tasks much easier!
Thank you!
Will and Lily spent the entire day in the kitchen helping with just
about everything from peeling to chopping to cleaning and everything
in between. They worked wonderfully with all the teenagers that came
in to help. I have never seen a group have so much fun chopping and
peeling! Their cheerfulness and readiness to jump at any task was
marvelous! Thank you for spending the whole day making sure the
feast happened!
Debra and her husband popped in and out of the kitchen helping where
ever they could when they had a free few minutes. Mistress Clare also
popped in and out helping whenever she could and helped us dish up
the feast as well. Ajah (spelling?) was also in and out the kitchen
helping with the cutting and chopping all day! Thank you all!
I would also like to thank Alina for handling the washing up of the
(seemingly) hundreds of bowls, pots, utensils, etc. She did a great
job I would also like to thank Ben and Samuel who jumped in to help
with the cleaning, drying and bowl collecting as well as Giotto and
Uther who also came in to lend a hand to get the task finished up.
Thank you!
Many, many thanks to everyone. I apologize if I left your name off
the list. I really appreciate your help! Thank you.
Mistress Clarissa di Firenze
