[Bryn-gwlad] "He is... inconvenient."

Actually, Eule, I finally read the books not long after seeing the Disney version and was amazed at how close a lot of it was to the book. Yes, it was cleaned up, sugar coated, and Disney-ized, but a lot of the details were very good. I very much enjoyed Kiefer Sutherland's portrayal of Athos. And Tim Curry as Richelieu reminded me so much of Lord Caradoc ap Owain being "evil" that I couldn't stop giggling. (Caradoc, or "Morphin" as he was sometimes known, mka Troyce Wilson, is an old friend from Shadowlands who is very good at being melodramatic.) Not pure Dumas, but entertaining.

But, you're right. The earlier one is better, if only because they had time for more detail. You must admit, though, that Spike Milligan as Constance's husband is very reminiscent of Iolo at his silliest.

Good for you Rhiannon!!!!

And for the younger rapier fighters, she is not speaking about the
Charlie Sheen , Keifer Sutherland and Chris O'Donnell version from the
90's...which has more to do with the candy bar than Alexander Dumas'
epic serial.
