[Bryn-gwlad] Bards, Brewers, and Cooks (now with shopping!)

Maybe we could even get the Baron's Men to work up a short one-act-play or a
montage of famous scenes from Shakespeare as a finale?
My 2 cents would be to try to make this a non-event - no court, no
competitions, none of the usual trappings of a "baronial" event. Instead of
opening court...as the village comes to life the taverns can hire heralds
to announce they are open and what they offer. Instead of closing court, let
the Baron's Men take that prime time.
If those fighters don't have anything to do and a few fights break out on
the village green, so be it...but not anything organized with a winner or
champion...bragging rights only.
I'm sort of thinking of that episode of Xena (I can hear the groans now)
where Gabrielle goes to enter the bardic competition. There were taverns,
there fights, there was adventure...but the focus was on the stories told by
the various bards.
I believe, in period, taverns would hire bards and musicians to draw custom
to their establishment. The taverns at the event could do the same, giving
stages and an audience for the bards.
I think it would be grand fun! I volunteer to help coordinate something
depending on when the actual timing turns out to be.
