[Bryn-gwlad] Baronial business cards design proof andpricing....and vehicle stickers...

(I've been AFK all day, so I'm replying to several previous messages; sorry
'bout the mishmash...)

@Stefan and Paul: I mentioned out in my first post that the maps would have
to be redone. What you see at
http://bryn-gwlad.ansteorra.org/images/bizcard1.jpg
is only a rough design. Making a 1"-square detail map that is legible and
useful is a task that I didn't want to undertake before first getting some
idea of whether anyone liked the general concept. (Not that I'm not tempted
to tinker with Photoshop, what with my Candlemas dress still nothing but
some crumpled rectangles on my cutting table... :-)

@Paul: Folding bizcards (3.5" x 4") would be cool because they hold so much
copy, but they also tend to cost considerably more than standard
ones--printing on two sides plus scoring (creasing) adds up. The mockup
linked above was meant to represent a standard 3.5" x 2" bizcard, printed
front (color) and back (BW).

Stefan suggested flyers, but I think the gist of the idea is that just about
everyone can stick business cards in their purse or wallet and have them
available to hand out at a moment's notice, while the same can't be said of
a flyer.

Goldweard mentioned driving to San Antonio to pick up business cards from a
vendor, but surely the cost of driving to San Antonio would far outweigh any
savings...? We drove to San Marcos today and it cost about fifteen bux in
gasoline (urk!)

Someone else (can't find the message) mentioned VistaPrint's "free" cards.
For the price of shipping and "processing" (I think it runs around $8) you
get 250 cards on a "standard" template, with VistaPrint's logo printed on
the back. By the time you add their charges for uploading your own logo,
removing the VP mark, and so on, you're well up there with other printers'
prices.

If the barony in general likes the idea of a full-color, two-sided card (and
assuming Lady Coblaith is okay with her work being used on it), I'm still
vouching for NoNegPress for hitting the sweet spot between quality and
price, at $39+shipping for 1000 cards. I've used them often (my day job
involves lots of print design as well as webmastering) and I've always been
very happy with their work.
