Salut cozyns,
I would agree with Master Eule's first statement: "The Seven Samurai" is arguably the best western ever made. (No sarcasm. Kurosawa said he modeled the story on American westerns.)
As for Magnificent Seven...uh, no. "Magnificent Seven" is a hideous remake of "The Seven Samurai." It just sucks out loud.
Not sure how I'd rank them, but after Seven Samurai, my list of great westerns would have to include:
High Noon
The Cowboys
The Unforgiven
True Grit
3:10 to Yuma
Silverado
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
