I stood in line for my precinct's caucus. And stood and stood, as the
line didn't move but streched out to the street, down the street, and
into a parking lot. Eventually I got bored and restless and went to
the front of the line to find out what was going on. Then, as I was
walking back, it occurred to me that other people wanted to know what
the holdup was, so I started talking to groups of 20-30. Then someone
asked a question that I didn't know the answer to, so I went back to
the front, asked a few more questions, and went back down the line
with further announcements.
That's when I realized that I was field-heralding the caucus.
I tried not to use my field herald voice, because I wasn't official,
didn't have much information, and didn't want to seem pushy. Boy did
I learn THAT was a mistake.
Unlike SCA people, they actually quieted down to listen. I guess
people *will* listen to announcements if they expect an immediate
benefit to them.
