In situations such as this, I've always felt that the burden of
participation lies on the individual. If someone wants to participate
then let them overcome whatever obstacles they feel they have to
approach someone and ask about it.
You can also, of course, approach specific individuals who you feel can
contribute and tell them you feel they would make an important addition.
This is how Ariella and I recruit for our events...works really well.
>From my understanding, if someone wants to participate in teh War
Company, all they have to do is ask to be a part and then live up to the
expectations. Make no mistake, this is an elitist group...revel in it
and live up to it.

The point is not whether we would welcome non-residents. The question is
whether they would feel welcome. This is particularly an issue for
potential non-resident recruits who we may never get the chance to speak
to about it because they assume Bryn Gwlad means Bryn Gwlad only.
While we can all be proud to put the name of Bryn Gwlad into the Known
World lexicon, those wo do not consider themselves a part of this barony
won't find that same satisfaction.
On the third hand, most of the war company's members will be local so if
enough of the locals feel strongly about keeping the name then keeping
the name is the wisest choice.
