Hi Barony,
Someone please crosspost this to Bjornsbourg and Ffynnon Gath as
well. Below is a description of the house fire that took place
Tuesday night (early hours of Wednesday actually) at Ysfael, Eleanor
and the kids house. Blessedly, all family members are okay down to the
kittens and rabbit, however I would like to put a call out to help
them through this. Wonderfully, Ysfael arrived him from practice in
the park just in the nick of time to put the fire out and make sure
his family was safe. My brother Ysfael is admirably strong in his
pride, but there are times when family helps family. It turns out
that insurance will cover the physical structure of the house but not
their personal items, Ysfael's work items, or their SCA stuff.
Therefore they are in need of assistance both financial and
importantly some immediate logistical needs. For instance they have
no functioning kitchen or cookware...they have camp stoves and coolers
but nothing to to cook with and nothing to keep food cold over the
long term. Ysfael will need to replace his work equipment for obvious
reasons. They lost a significant portion of clothing modern and sca.
Those that are local if you can help with the immediate needs of a way
to cook, keep food fresh, etc. that would be a big help. If you can
do so contact me offline and I can put you in direct contact with
Eleanor. Those that are farther away I suggest we take up a donation
for their family and get it to them in the near future. I am inquiring
into paypal as an option so if you are interested in helping out
directly in this way please contact me offline and we can sort out the
details. Perhaps a collection could be taken at the next practice in
the park if folks think that is a good idea. In closing, I stress all
are okay thank whatever powers your hold in your heart, but the crisis
will not be over for them until life returns to normalcy and that is
something I believe we can help with.
In service and friendship,
Gideon
From Eleanor:
Morning everyone, just thought that since I was already up I would
post a message to let you all know that I awoke at 12:50 to find
myself in a smoke filled house. Talk about an adrenaline rush, after
yelling fire and getting the kids out, Ari, Evan and Rebecca and
calling 911 I began looking for the only ones I had not heard from
Ysfael and Katherine, doh, they had been at fighter practice and had
literally just pulled into the driveway, I am sure they had a heck of
an adrenaline rush going too. Eventually Ysfael heard me yelling, I
heard him yelling ...we did eventually figure out that we were all out
and ok even the dog and ALL our cats and of course our rabbit as well.
Ysfael immediately then began dousing the fire with our water
hose and the firemen later told us that he was what saved the house.
Four fire trucks later two police cars and an unnecessary
ambulance the fire was out and the house a wreck, but we are all ok if
rather frazzled. This will definately put a crimp in our eventing
schedule.. . We have partial power, 3 rooms are too iffy to turn on
the circuit breakers. The kitchen is totalled, the back entryway and
Ysfaels work room are pretty much more than a fifty percent loss and
the dining room is sizzled. My living room looks like aliens broke
through the ceiling and there is water and smoke damage in a good
portion of the next 4 front rooms. BUT...we are all ok.
So, if we seem a little more out of it than usual now you know why.
God and all our guardian angels were looking out for us!
Ysfael said "There was divine intervention. Timing it like that ...
looking at the near damage ... what would have happened if I were ten
minutes later ..."... Eleanor said "in ten more minutes it may have
been to late for us"
peace and love
Eleanor
