Hot. Humid. Almost windless.

Extremely spiffy vigil tents for Robin of Gilwell, almost as if they'd
been Braanwynized. One was a chapel with *lots* of ornaments, a rail,
a kneeler; one was for him to receive visitors (and had neat stuff and
portraits and shimmering samite); one party tent with lots of great
food. (Drat, *who* did it -- Aislynn? Gunther helped.)

The tourneys seemed fast. I believe the rapier list (and possibly the
other) went until someone was undefeated -- five rounds, I think.

I guess I'd better post my few court notes. I don't have
an award list, though; I stopped taking notes early.

Three hour court. (Sung to the tune of "The _Gilligan's Isle_ Theme
Song".) Usual passel of awards -- some I agree with, a few I don't.

It was Night of the Pelican. *Four* called up simultaneously.
Anastasia and Karl der Gander took theirs on the spot; Lasair and
another to be done at Steppes Twelfth Night. (I suppose *that* should
be enough straight lines.)

Notable quotes from Court:

(Royal herald (Ulf?), by dint of mighty effort, struggles thru a Latin
charter, Xena's Laurel)
"I'm sure you've all wanted to hear a Norseman do a Latin scroll ..."
(shout from crowd) "We're still waiting!"

Barn: "Will you accept elevation at our hands?"
Candidate: "Aiiieeee, eeerrrmmm, ..."
Barn, looming and very serious-looking: "Say 'no' and I'll kill you."
Candidate, deer-in-headlights: "Um ... can I give it, um, prayerful
           consideration?"
Barn: "The correct answer is 'yes'."

(Royal herald reading a Pelican charter text, stumbles in reading.)
(Barn turns and holds up two fingers, meaning "that's two.")
"Would Your Majesty like me to switch to Latin?"

"He gets what he deserves -- another circle to sit in."

"Good thing you said 'yes'. I was about to come pimp-slap you."

"Will you accept elevation now or at a later time?"
"I don't want to make a dress and hold a party! DO ME NOW!"
