Now Wallace comes down from the highlands,
And Longshanks comes up from the south,
And many a royal pretender
is now running off at the mouth.
And some men will die for their hero,
And many more die for their kings,
But it needs a good man who's pragmatic,
To see the chances that this war brings.
So die if you want for your hero
Or die for a conquest that's royal,
Or come see what riches they're paying,
To the troops who are not quite so loyal.
I now am raising my banner,
So bring your steel and your wood,
And come cry "A Douglas! A Douglas!"
And fight for Sir James the Good.
- Sir James Douglas, "the Good"
(Galen of Bristol)
