<<Greetings to any and all Regional planners,
Anyone who knows, please assist me with some information:.
1) What is the pattern for exchanging around in Central, Coastal,
Northern, Southern, and Western Regions for events such as
Crown Tournies, Coronations, Queens' Champions, others,

2) and/or for "tacking-on" other Kingdom events "to" already PED's?
(Like in the past Kingdom Warlord was tacked onto an existing
event or a Kingdom A&S purpose to an existing event.)

3) What future Kingdom events within the appropriate bid time are
curently not yet determined, open for bids?

Thanks for feedback on these questions.

Greetings Tessa,
>From my experience, I can offer the following:
1. Crown Tourney - yes it rotates by tradition, as Burke said. But if a region doesn't get a bid
together by whatever deadline the Kingdom Seneschal dictates, then the kingdom will take bids from
any region. Essentially, if Bordermarch is interested in hosting Crown, go ahead and send in a
bid regardless of who's 'turn' it is, as that gives the Seneschal an immediate alternative to
accept if the region-designate doesn't get one in.

Coronation: usually held in the branch/region of the incoming Crown, but there has been a trend
toward holding it in the centralized area of the kingdom to allow more people to travel to it and
attend. Steppes/Elfsea area has sponsored a large number of Coronatations due to that reason.

Queen's - at the favor of the incoming Queen, and often held near her home branch.

Arts events - while not written in law, they tend to travel around the kingdom to give artisans
from all areas the opportunity to attend them. Any branch can bid for them, but, for example, if
King's College is often held in the southern regions, then the MoAS will accept or push for a bid
in another region first.

2. Tacking-on is well favored by the Kingdom Seneschal, as many of the 'specialty' events, for
specific focus groups (King's Lancer - Equestrian, Eistedfodd - Bardic), alone don't often draw
enough attendees to hold an event on their own. The decision lies with the Kingdom Seneschal as
to which group gets the bid, again, but it's a good idea to talk it up among the members of the
specialty group, to gain support for hosting 'their' activity. If it comes down to two groups that
want to hold, for example, King's Lancer, than the Kingdom Seneschal may consult with the kingdom
Equestrian marshal, and consider where the event has been held in the past, to give it a chance to
'travel' about the kingdom before making a decision.

3. Bidding deadlines and what's open - Check with the Kingdom Seneschal for a list of what's still
left open, but a good sign is to look at the kingdom calendar for the TBA (to be announced), which
is a good indicator that the event has no current bidders (though it could mean the calendar is
behind in posting or the kingdom seneschal has bidders but hasn't made a decision yet). Ask the
region or kingdom via e-lists, if a specialty event is seeking an event home, you will probably
get a response from a key member of that group.

It is always a good idea to finalize a bid by at least a year in advance. Ultimately, the kingdom
calendar decisions are the responsibility of the Kingdom Seneschal or their designate; so when in
doubt check with them. But for a specialty event, it's a good idea to begin discussions with the
key kingdom officer of that group. Communication, and lots of it, is always the key!!

Hope that helps.
Cheers, Hillary
