In examining my feelings about little Cricket, while it is true that we only had her for less than a day, and that she was "only" a dog, it felt like I had adopted a human baby into our family, only to have it die a day later. At least she was with us and not alone in a cold, concrete shelter. Grrrr.

I knew not to go to a pet shop, and when we got Zandar I went to a good breeder, saw the parents and relatives of our puppy, went into the puppy pen and played with all of them, and got a good healthy dog. I also spent more to do it..

This experience with Cricket also drove home an economic concept. "There is no such thing as a Free Lunch". By trying to get a dog that was cheaper than Zandar, I ended up paying more in the long run for the doctor bills. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Enough philosophy for the day,
I have too much sewing to get ready for 12th night.

Love and Hugs,
Zara zina
