I was thinking about using plastic milk cartons.

Anyway, I'm planning on filling all our ice chests with ice to bring.  And 
having a kiddie pool to soak our hot feet and neck rags in.


The one thing I have seen in my years in the SCA and as a chirurgeon, is 
that the worst heat cases are not the fighters, but the onlookers.  Many do 
not eat or drink properly, have a terrible hangover, and /  or are dressed 
inappropriately for the event.
I plan on wearing cool, cotton chitons, coptic tunics, or byzantine-style 
shifts that the washing women wore.  These were designed for use in Egypt 
and Greece during summer.  On the walls of Pompeii, linen bandeau-style 
bikinis were worn by women as they swam or worked out with weights.
Middle Eastern clothing can also be very comfortable, if you use natural 
fabrics only - polyester does not breathe!!!!  It's amazing how a cotton 
turban can keep the sweat out of your eyes and cool your head at the same 
time.
