ES - Consort Tourney Clarification.......

What ARE the exact rules for the tournament on Saturday at Spring
Faire? Is it true that everyone must have a consort in order to
participate? And is it true that a male fighter and female fighter cannot be
each other's consort?

I have talked to several people lately who are very displeased about
these rules if they are indeed true. Since I am a female fighter and my
consort is a fighter, these rules will exclude one of us from the
tournament. I know of two other couples in this same predicament, they
would like to fight in the tournament but do not want to choose new
consorts. I also know of a fighter or two that are either too shy or just
don't want to seek out a consort for the tournament.

Spring Faire was my very first event when I joined the SCA, so it holds
special memories for me. I always look forward to the fighting at Spring
Faire, but I am also disappointed that so many people I know are being
excluded from the main tourney.

Sciann and I having family members come out to Spring Faire to watch us
fight, and get a little taste of the SCA. It is unfortunate that one of us will
not be able to participate in the tournament because of the consort rules. May I make the suggestion that we either alter the rules of the Consort
Tourney or have an alternative heavy event that day? I realize
pick-up-fights are always available, but really that's just like fighter
practice.

Just my 2 cents........
