Allessandre, sponsor of the tourney here; Azalais, you make some
good points.

>What ARE the exact rules for the tournament on Saturday at Spring

Arabella has posted the rules and they can be found on the web-site
for the event.

>Is it true that everyone must have a consort in order to
>participate?

Yes, every fighter _does_ need a consort for this tourney. If you
know someone for whom lack of a consort is the only obstacle, have
them see me privately, and I'll help them find a consort for the day.

>And is it true that a male fighter and female fighter cannot be
>each other's consort?

In fact, though I meant to, I realize that I didn't specify in
those rules that two fighters cannot fight for each other. My
intention was that they wouldn't, but I didn't come out and say
that.

But you make a good case, and it does seem a shame to limit
the participation in the list, if this would cost us several
entrants. So sure, you and Scian come and fight and be welcome.
Please notice though, that consorts in this tourney _are_
participants, not just spectators.

I had hoped with this tourney to emphasize the importance of the
fighters' consorts. The idea is to put those "who only sit and
wait" in a place to _share_ the spotlight with their armored
representatives. We're trying to _engage_ the consorts in
the competition, and give them a more personal stake in who
wins each bout. Two of the four prizes will go to consorts.
Also, while fighters may be killed out of the fighting, every
consort remains part of the tourney until the end.

For a couple who are both fighters, this means two things:
first, when you're both killed out, you're both still
participating as consorts, and maybe seperately. And second,
if you're both a fighter _and_ a consort, that may interfere
with your ability to focus on doing your best as either.

In the past, SpringFaire has often had silly low-persona
events like the peasants' list. This year, I thought we'd
have a silly HIGH-persona tourney. It's up to the entrants
to make it a success. I hope you will.

I'd like to apologize to Lord Hengist, and everyone else whom
I told that both members of a couple wouldn't be able to
fight for each other. I hope this reversal comes in time
to include you.

>Just my 2 cents........

Worth more than that, I think.
