Galen here...

>Thank you, Sir Galen, for trying to make this work. Some things take longer
>than other to get off the ground, but persistence will pay off.

My pleasure, and I will persist, but perhaps more feedback will help
me to a more effective strategy.

>Anthony is only 9 and Sam is 8. Don't the youth have to be 10 for the
>Chivalric combat? I would like to get both of them involved, but haven't
>the copies of the rules that were signed into law.

The rules are available on the kingdom website. If they haven't been
updated yet, they soon will be. The "4.0" version of the rules were
modified slightly before being signed by Their Majesties last Saturday.

There are four age groups in youth combat:

  1.Children¹s Boffer Division (Ages 6-9)
  2.Youth Boffer Division (Ages 10-12)
  3.Teen Boffer Division (Ages 13-15)
  4.Youth Chivalric Division (Ages 16-17)

The boffer divisions use padded "boffer" swords, the oldest group
will use rattan weapons and have the same armor standards as adult
fighters. So no, Anthony and Sam aren't too young, if they're
interested. The different boffer divisions can train together,
but will not compete against each other.

>As for this Sunday, we are attending the Saturn Homecoming and baseball game
>at 4 PM and will miss fighter practice.

Thanks for the feedback! How do you like the idea of
Youth practice being _before_ adult fighter practice,
as a general idea?

>Could you lead an informal discussion on Youth combat at a future event -
>like the Fool's Revel or the College of Dragonsfire Tor?

Happy to! We'll plan on it for Fool's Court, and play
it by ear and maybe do it at the Tor, as well.

>If you do attend, and are able to, please volunteer to help our sister
>Barony. We are all Ansteorrans, and will stand strong together in the
>vanguard against the Trimaran Army. To do so, we must forge our bonds now,
>in times of friendship.

More than that, for all that we keep saying that Life
Is Good In Elfsea, maybe some additional cross-pollination
could make life better in the Steppes, too. To all our
benefit.

- Galen
