Subject: RE: Eliz I had a wristwatch?

Sorry, don't have an answer on wristwatches in the renaissance, but there
was another mixup having to do with Elizabeth I today on something called
the Acses web page. Seems the Queen Mother was born today, August 4, 1900.
The article then proceeded to talk about what she did as queen in the
1500's. Perhaps something similar happened in the radio station's research?
(although some clocks did exist by then, as I vaguely recall)

Here's part of the blurb, fyi, sent to me by my lord:

    August 4th, 1999

    Today's Historical Event
Today 99 years ago - birth of Elizabeth I.

On 4th of August 1900 Britain's Queen mother Elizabeth was born.
The daughter of Henry VIII was the culmination of a Henry´s seven
year affair with Anne Boleyn. Henry named her for his mother
Elizabeth. She studiously avoided involvement in the intrigues
after Henry´s death, assuming the throne only after the death of
her sister Mary on 17th of November 1558. But once in power, she
used her education, innate shrewdness and diplomatic skill to lead
her nation to glory. She restored her peoples faith in the
monarchy and led her nation to its greatest period of prosperity
    and accomplishment.
