The only option I can think of, off the top of my head, was an idea 
suggested by HRH Caley.  When she had been Baroness, she spent time going to 
resale shops to find trays that may have had a little tarnish on them.  She 
could pick up several for just a little money, take them home and remove 
most, if not all the tarnish.  They were usually silver so although they 
were not the same style of tray, they were obviously similar.

Of course there would be drawbacks to this, time being an issue, but perhaps 
from now on, we could have our friends who use those shops frequently (and 
we know who we are) look for those items when making purchases, with the 
hopes we could reimburse them or treat them in some way (a coupon or 
something).
