Dancing is a way to touch in a very polite way.
And from at least one lady's point of view...
"There is nothing more chivilrous than a man learning to dance so that he
may be with the ladies in a polite and very public way. In a sense he is
doing them a service.  Ladies don't like to just go to a ball and eat and
sit......
They like to move and enjoy the music.  It is very natural for most
ladies to want to move when music is in the air.
And when a man learns to dance for his own growth and pleasure..........
well that makes him even more exciting and attractive, to those who are
