ES - Research ideas?

I realize this probably shouldn't go on the list, but I wanted to reach as 
many people as possible. I am looking for documentation for poodles in 
period. I have found some that goes back to a german Dr. Heinrich Cornelius, 
who lived from 1486 - 1535. This book as well as others claim that "poodles" 
can be found in Greek and Roman art works dating back to B.C..  Can anyone 
verfy this or give me suggestions as to where I can look?
