ES - Cantons/ Shires vs. Baronies

   I was thinking, how about the cantons and shires of the area mount troop 
against the combined baronies?  If we are talking scenerios and storylines, 
nobles vs. the folk is a pretty universal theme.  We could have something 
like the baronies getting together and jointly taxing each others folk, but 
the populace rebels.  We can set ransoms in the amount of cookies (chocolate 
chip for gold; sugar cookies for silver, etc.).  If the baronies win, the 
cantons/ shires pay up their taxes and the baronies provide "a refund" if 
the cantons/ shires win.

  I think this would be good for many reasons.  The baronies would work 
together.  The smaller groups would be able to assert some independence.  
They would also be able to fight under their own banners, which, let us face 
it, at larger melees are often lost in the face of the parent baronies.  I 
for one look forward to being able to fight my fellows in Glaslyn under our 
banner.

   Each side can hire mercenaries and I am sure the baronies would have full 
support of the crown.  We can even get the bards and other artists involved 
as a work up by displaying pleas for help in the Black Star and making 
formal declaration of rebellion scrolls (which could be then kept in a book 
to be looked at later should it become annual).
