I saw this on the list the other day. As soon as my sewing stuff is
unpacked, I'm finding a spool low on thread, taking off the thread and make
one!

Good Morning Everyone....... :-))
For the present time I am alone in the house with no
children......just animals.......hmmmmmm - there's a
difference? <big giggles.....> and I haven't had coffee yet
either.
Back to Costuming........last evening my terribly clever
middle daughter came up with a suggestion to my query...
...I wonder how we can signify to the world we are
fabricaholics/sewingaholics? When I have just been swept
into another fabric store - unable to resist the temptations -
I don't like to feel alone with this addiction. :-)
Shannon said......."Mum, you know how alcoholics in AA,
have the fish-shaped symbol in the window of their car's"....I
blithely and innocently said "yes, dear"........"well, I think you
fabricaholics should have a private symbol too.......a spool of
thread". I was dumbfounded and delighted all at the same time.
Imagine this if you will..........wherever you are - glancing in
someone's front window and seeing a little wooden spool
dangling from their mirror.......you would know immediately
that you were in the presence of another fabric stasher.
I was near a local dollar-store and immediately went to the
craft section and purchased a little bag of "wooden miniature
thread spools". (However, any wooden spool would do perfectly).
(I bought the extra as I want to make a bunch of them up as
gifts for other "stashers" like myself).
I am going to string mine on a little tassel and perhaps add a
bead or two for embellishment. It will go in my front car window
later this very day.
I am hoping other costumers, seamstresses, sempstresses,
and fabric/notions/trims, etc. stashers and 'aholics will join me
in this campaign. Oh......and please DO pass this on to anyone
else you know that has the same dilema of not being able to
pass by fabric stores. Perhaps we can really make this grow.
     Have a lovely Saturday everyone.
     With my warm regards, Zhenia
