Gilli, I assume you're referring to this in my message:

I think my meaning is indisputably true:  one may 
reasonably argue that Fearghus is the best active 
archer in Ansteorra.  I don't assert that he is --
although I do tend to hold that opinion.

The argument goes like this:
Fearghus is currently Royal Huntsman, Archery Champion 
of the Steppes, of the Stargate, Archery Guardian of 
the Tor, and archery champion of a growing list of 
other places.  No one else is.  (He's also a member of 
my barony and my household.)  Therefore he's the best 
active archer in the kingdom.

I very enthusiastically look forward to the performances
of those who wish to demonstrate otherwise.

"Deeds not words"?  Quite right!  And what deeds 
there'll be on the shooting line at Elfsea Defender!

Oh, and I also have a chainmail bishop's mantle for the 
archer who puts on the best "show" -- best appearance, 
best conduct on the line, best persona play, if you 
will -- the one who most makes me think of a medieval 
archery tournament.
