ES - Galen gets baronial

Greetings all....

    Pardon me for waxing "poetic" for a moment.  Baron Galen brought to
light many subjects in his post.  I wish to comment on a few (good, of
course).  Life is _so_ good in Elfsea because of the people.  I have been
infrequent in my playing due to dental school, but I have _never_ felt
unwelcome at _any_ Elfsea or Elfsea related event.  I choose to go to Elfsea
events despite living, technically, in Steppes because Elfsea is my home.
    Everyone keep in mind what the Baron said in his post..."when it's
hottest and you're at your tiredest, and it's hardest to be courteous and
understanding of the people around you, that's when the people around you
most need your courtesy and understanding. "  Try to smile, even when you
don't feel like it.  It's amazing how it affects others around you (and it
can change how you feel).
    When you ask for something to be done, smile and say "Thank you," even
if the task does not get done.  The effort is worth the courtesy. Remember:
you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
    If you enjoy some aspect of the event, (List, A&S, bardic, etc), tell
the person who organized it.  They won't always know otherwise if people
enjoyed their effort.
     Make award reccommendations.  Don't be a person that says, "He/she is
so good that someone else will reccommend  him/her before I will."  The B&B
and the Crown can't read our minds and can't be everywhere at once.
    PLEASE welcome newcomers to your camp and your pavillion.  So many
newcomers never come back after their first event because they don't feel
that they are part of the right "group."
    Elfsea is great because we care about each other.  Treat everyone as you
would want to be treated yourself (duh).  Smile.  Say "Thank you."
Recognize the hard work of others.  Work hard yourself to keep life good in
Elfsea.
