[Elfsea] My regrets for tomorrow

Xene here:

My dad is doing much better. When I called yesterday, they had taken out
the ventilator and he was breathing on his own - with oxygen - but he is
breathing without real assistance. They were very worried about that.

When I got there Friday, he looked really bad. My brother said that he was
much worse on Thursday, and I just can't imagine that. His face was swollen
and his color was grey. He was able to open his eyes a little on Friday
evening and could see that Anthony and I were there. They were pumping
blood out of his lungs and giving him plasma.

By Saturday evening, they had dropped the oxygen in the ventilator from 100%
down to 70%, and he was improving. He even made hand motions to ask me what
time it was, so he could be sure that Jean (my step-mother) had made it home
before dark. He was squeezing my hand and seemed more relaxed.

Sunday, he started writing notes to Jean and my aunt Gail. The doctors said
that his lungs were much better on the x-rays and reduced the oxygen to 50%.
It was a bacterial infection of both lungs.

The wonderful prayers and healing thoughts from so many people was very
present in his room. Saturday night, I couldn't sleep and spent most of the
night in prayer and reading the Bible. I wasn't sure if I was going home
that day or staying another night, but after seeing him Sunday, and the
amount of improvement that he was showing, I decided to come on home.

Then, driving home, I went through that terrible storm. It took me over 5
hours (closer to 6) to make a 3 1/2 hour drive, and it was hard to stay on
the road. I was exhausted and slept yesterday until 1 pm in the afternoon.

My dad's condition is improving, but ........he still has a lot of recovery
to go.

Thank you for asking and caring.

Xene / Vicki
