ES - Children at events

I would like to put my .02 cents here.

When I first joined the SCA, I was Deputy MOC with HL Tanwyn. In the past
I have also helped Lady Ameline with the children - although not as
much as I should.

I have seen too many times too many children and not enough adult
supervision. (Haven't we already beat this dead horse to death?) I
think both HL Tanwyn and Lady Ameline have done a wonderful job as MOC and
have wonderful activities the for the kids.

I think the page system would be a wonderful idea. I don't want to tell
anyone how to run this or even how begin instituting this. So I
apologize if I step on any toes here. However, I do have a few ideas to
throw out here for possible further discussion:

1. Would it be possible for those who are interested in having a
page/squire (or whatever appropriate title is) all to gather at an
upcoming event, set aside a time with the MOC and give a talk about what
they as "Sir Knight" do as a knight and would except of a page; or
what "Lord/Lady Herald" does and would need help with. After everyone
gives their presentations, the kids could break up into groups and meet
either as small group or individually with the person they wish to work
with. Things could progress from there...

I think this would (also) introduce the kids to the other aspects of the
SCA to the kids and give them a more exposure to the opportuntities
available in the SCA.

2. Why can't the older children be criers or runners at events. Tabbards
could be made to easily identify these pages.

Again - just my .02 cents worth.

(again - who is always willing to give her advise on subjects)
