Can anyone give me some ideas on what to do with her besides

Greetings Cait,
Hope to meet you at an event soon.

When I started in the SCA in 1996 my son was 2. In the beginning, I joined
to get away from the stress of my children, 3 step daughters and a very high
maintenance premie toddler. At the time I needed to get away. Obviously
you aren't in my situation, and my situation has since improved greatly.

My mother looked at it as a very important way to have grandma time and do
me a favor. She and I both knew that it is very important for her to
develop a relationship as a grandmother when my son was very young. It was
a way for her to have quality time and still be able to give him back. He
now enjoys going to Nana and Gampy's house.

It also functioned as another benefit.......... it prevented really bad
mommy separation anxiety. The first day of preschool he looked at me and
said, "By mommy, see you this afternoon and ran to play with the other
kids."

Now my son is almost 6, has a longer attention span, and he enjoys going to
events and it's a real treat to go camping with mommy and daddy. I'm glad I
didn't take him to all my events. Now I usually only take him to outside
events, but only a few a year. He's really excited to go to Crown Tourney,
he marches in the procession at the beginning.

There is something positive about leaving children with Grandma.
