Yes... everything Alaric said AND:  if you are allergic, or don't know
whether or not you are allergic, then it would be best if you refrain from
visiting the bees.  Anaphylactic shock is not fun to deal with. :(  I would
be more than happy to submit a report on the beekeeping activities and
candlemaking.

White is better and best is cotton.  My father's beekeeping "uniform" was a
pair of cotton khaki trousers and a cotton khaki shirt - a little heavier
and more resistant to stings than a plain white cotton work or dress shirt.
Also and most important, go freshly bathed using unscented soap and wear no
perfumes or colognes.  Your best defense is an absolutely neutral appearance
and scent.


This is so true!  I once went around the bees after using strawberry
shampoo.  The bees wouldn't leave me alone!  --M.
