I am very happy to hear that Trinity Park has been cleaned up and that it
appears to be a good park once again. Thank you for going out there and
taking a look. This does ease my mind quite a bit.

Subject: [Elfsea] 9:00 PM Eyewitness Report
My husband and I went out to eat tonight and on the way home, I drove
through Trinity Park.
I want to report what we saw on our tour. We started at the closest
entrance, across from the
Botanical Gardens. From there to the river bank we saw absolutely
nothing. On arriving at the
jogging paths and street, there were lights all through the area between
the parking lots, tables,
park benches ( overlooking the river ), the playground and the
port-a-potties. Incidentally, the
port-a-potties were placed in groups of two and of the two sets I looked at
closely, there was one regular and one handicapped. I thought that was a
plus. As we drove on there was a man and
a woman sitting at one of the tables by the playground where two children
were playing. A little
farther on and across the street, a pickup was parked with a man night
fishing from the bank.
Some distance on down, toward the Armory, there was a lady, older than me,
alone, with a 25
pound bag of cat food feeding the cats. We stopped and talked to her and
she does this every
night, alone. She is part of the people that are having the ferrol cats
neutered and given their
shots. We went on toward Seventh Street and the road goes away from the
river bank there so
there were not a bunch of lights ( they follow the jogging and bike paths )
and this is where the
park gets wider. Down by the duck pond, with its lighted fountain, there
was an older man
changing a tire on a car. From there on to the shelter house where
Shakespeare in the Park is
held there wasn't anyone around. I drove in the parking lots with my
lights on Hi-beam and couldn't see anyone, anywhere other than these I have
told you about. There were what looked like water
fountains scattered through out the park and trash cans everywhere. No
trash on the streets or
on the grounds. Oh yes, we drove around for 30 minutes and left the park
about 9:30 pm.
One other thing I found out is one possible reason there were no police
patrols in evidence
during the visit this summer, is because a lot of their patrolling is done
on bicycles. You can
learn a lot from talking with a policeman while he eats.
We had a very nice drive but I would have been just as comfortable out
walking by myself. But
then, we all know I am a brazen ole broad anyway.
I now return you to your regular mailing list.
