Greetings all!

This is another reminder for my persona lab, being done in my apartment, on the 2nd of February, from noon until 5-ish PM (we could go shorter or longer depending on the participants). One need not be there from the beginning to necessarily get anything out of it though I would encourage it.

I will be getting pizza and beverages. If you wish to bring your own lunch, that is fine too. I pretty much eat anything which clucks, moos, or oinks, so if you have a preference for pizza or snacks, let me know.

My address is: 1910 N. Ruddell St., #117 (Fairway Villa Apts.), Denton, and my phone is (940)320-5338. Directions given upon request, otherwise should be found on any of the map generators. Nearest major intersection is University (Hwy 380) and Ruddell. We are immediately south of it.

Requirements for the lab: Please come in mundane clothing and be ready to introduce yourself mundanely. Other than that, an open mind, a willingness to have fun, and a desire to play The Game we call The Dream are all you need. Seasoned "old timers" :) and newcomers are equally welcome. Remember, this is a lab so everyone contributes. I hope to learn as much as I show.

Tentative, "rough", "may be occasionally followed" outline is below the signature line.

Thanks,
Richard Culver (Cyniric's alter ego)
"Some men want to be called "Doctor", some "wealthy", and
some "Kings". No greater honour exists than "Daddy."

Outline:

I - Mundane Introductions-- names, work, other interests outsid of the SCA, etc.

II - Fundamentals of Persona Development
-- What do you want out the SCA? What do you want to put into it?
-- a series of questions to think about in searching for a persona.
--- "Where do you want to be from?", "What time period, if any specific one is desired?", etc.

III - How to answer the above questions
-- making use of available information (bibliographies, internet searches, libraries, etc.)
-- how to use what information you get (reading over books and indeces, making use of maps, etc.)
-- Fun with conjecture-- playing on historical hypotheses to add twists to a persona story (also occurs in part IV)

IV - Developing a persona story
-- Keep it simple when starting out
-- Embellishing or giving "the truth scope"-- known and conjectural ideas and things to open up the possiblities.
-- Leaving space for growth-- Cyniric today is different from the one I started two years ago.

V - Working examples
-- some of my story for Cyniric and how I pulled it together. Also using research materials as an outline of sorts.
-- examples of research books and sites I consider significant to devloping Cyniric such as "Dress in Anglo-Saxon England" and "The English Settlements" as well as langage and literature of the time.

VI - Basic "Medievalization"
-- general, period greetings and farewell's in their Modern English forms.
-- tips to help put yourself in a "medieval state of mind" at events and avoid mundane matters habits (Example: Doug and Rich should talk computer games; Master Airaklee and his man-at-arms, Cyniric hlafard, should be talking swords, raiding, or of each others homelands)

I hope it does not scare some folk away as I plan to keep it as fun as I can. I will not have a lot of handouts, so one might want some paper for extra note taking.
