Tradition

Culture Camps - Tremendous effort, and if not supported by a large group for at least 6 months ahead of an event, they flopped. They were pushed, pulled, made fun of, and pretty much tired us out. With the long commitment needed to really pull them off, they died a natural death.

Foole's Fest was also a tradition. We invited a Foole to preside. Now we elect one at Springfaire. (Or I depose the rightful foole) Ramon started a tradition. The Fooles' Revel. How did he start it? He pushed it, promoted it, begged us to attend, and now we have a great tradition.

Some guys going to Rice University wanted to find a group of people who were willing to let them fight with little whippy swords, instead of big sticks. Ever hear of a Masta'Don? And the White Scarf treaty?

A reverse OP challenge? You realize that most of the newer fighters that visit Elfsea do not even know what it means, as Elfsea is the only group that does it. If that were printed in the booklet that is given out at the gate, then that tradition would have a meaning to those who participate.

Tradition means that everyone had a good time with someone's new idea and did it again and again. At least three times. And told everyone how good a time they had.

TRADITION

TEVYE
Tradition, tradition! Tradition!
Tradition, tradition! Tradition!

TEVYE & PAPAS
Who, day and night, must scramble for a living,
Feed a wife and children, say his daily prayers?
And who has the right, as master of the house,
To have the final word at home?

The Papa, the Papa! Tradition.
The Papa, the Papa! Tradition.

GOLDE & MAMAS
Who must know the way to make a proper home,
A quiet home, a kosher home?
Who must raise the family and run the home,
So Papa's free to read the holy books?

The Mama, the Mama! Tradition!
The Mama, the Mama! Tradition!

SONS
At three, I started Hebrew school. At ten, I learned a trade.
I hear they've picked a bride for me. I hope she's pretty.

The son, the son! Tradition!
The son, the son! Tradition!

DAUGHTERS
And who does Mama teach to mend and tend and fix,
Preparing me to marry whoever Papa picks?

The daughter, the daughter! Tradition!
The daughter, the daughter! Tradition!

But being in, bear it that the opposed
May beware of thee......
