In my traveling days when I lived in Germany. I when to England and Scotland
to visit the sights and see if I could find my far distant cousins. In my
travels of Scotland when I was in Glasgow(sp?) I met a man of the cloth
there Thomas Macphearson(sp?) and his title he told me was Vicar of Glasgow
and the people around that knew him or of him just called him Vicar.
To me this is a title a man of religion also. The use of just Vicar refers
to a roming holyman or one who has choosen to live with the people and not
follow the ways of the living in the church. The other thing he told me
about the title, in a lot of cases it is inherited in the family.
