Okay, I had to take a break from proofing this month's internal letter...hey
don't let Rosalia see this...she'll think that I am slacking off a bit..

Yes. Why? See Armand's list. Cut to two for Elfsea proper. Defender - do
the martial arts things, Springfaire, do the artsy things (Bard is there,
just add Artisan). Tor has Yule Revel, Loch Ruadh has the official
unofficial Pennsic Pity Party, aka Lugnuts (cuz I can't spell the other one
right), and Guardian is there for fun and frolic as well. Demo and Fools
Revel are great training events. And the Wake.. let's not forget the Wake...

If people just have to have a collegium, then perhaps we can toss around an
idea for a regional collegium and give the money to the kingdom for
unplanned for expenses or something. The Central Region seems to cross
pollinate alot anyway. Just a thought, don't start shooting arrows.

Weeknights are out for me until sometime in June 2006. But, I like having
them on one night only. Block out that night entirely. Yes, that means
that some won't be doing local offices while they have other mundance things
like kids and for some jobs.

> Question 3 or Asking for ideas and comments
> How can we improve our retention and hospitaling to newcomers?

First you have to have some....we need more extensive recruitment in areas
other than Arlington. N and NW Tarrant county are exploding with growth.
What can we do in that area, besides moot?

Second, be understanding that it takes some time to get in the groove of
this game and it takes time to make friends. Newcomers sometimes feel left
out from volunteer ops because we don't ask them to help directly. We could
sponsor a couple or two easily. Newcomer camps are a great idea since they
have some breathing space from the overwhelming nature of some of our
events. Imagine driving up to Steppes Warlord as your first event and
seeing the period encampment in full view at 2 in the morning, or driving
around trying to find some place to camp? Pretty intimidating. It would be
nice to have a less fru fru camp the first time around to make sure that
people know that they can bring their coleman's.

But give them time. Overload can scare people off.

Speaking of overload...got to get back to work.
