Due to mundane financial reasons, I needed to get a job or we were looking
at being booted to the curb in a couple of months. So, I got a job at Six
Flags.

I just had amy job training Saturday and I had to say wow at all the
different ages and backgrounds that Six Flags hired! I will be working
Season Passes this year in Guest Services. In my department alone, we had a
65 year old male, a 54 year old male, a 52 year old female and 3 of us in
our 30's. Naturally, all us "old folks" stayed together and we got to
talking, most of us are "proffessionals" having a tough time finding
employment within our fields because we too are "over-qualified" or (because
most companies won't say it) too old.

I say this because sometimes jobs lie in the most unusual places. I like
working at Six Flags. No, there are no health insurance benfits, it's only
for 9 months and the pay pretty much sucks, but it's a job and it's income.
If you have good credit and good criminal background, you can get some
better paying jobs out there doing anything from loss prevention (that
includes mystery shopping) to working in Cash Control.

I agree that we shouldn't have extended unemployment benefits, too. I have
seen too many people (mostly here in my apartment complex) who are lazy and
won't even seriously start looking for a job until their benefits run out.

If you really need a job, apply at Six Flags...they would love to have you.
