Greetings all,

I am going to respond to a couple different comments and ideas. I also
include some info to hopefully clear some stuff up. These comments have been
snipped from other messages posted to the list.

Your Servant to Command,

What about Kingdom Events?

Kingdom Events, such as Crown Tourney, Coronation, or any other examples of
Kingdom Events are automatically put on the Kingdom Calendar by the Calendar
Deputy, in accordance to Kingdom Law and at the discretion of the Kingdom
Seneschal and the Crown. See Kingdom Law Article V, Section 3 for more
information concerning other Kingdom Events. No Event will be scheduled for
the same weekend as a Crown Tourney or Coronation. These are the only
protected events in Ansteorra. Kingdom events are ultimately awarded by the
Kingdom Seneschal with consent of the Crown and consultation with
appropriate Kingdom Officers.

Who sponsors Kingdom Events?

Any group may bid to host a Kingdom Event. Sponsoring a Kingdom Event does
not count against the number of events a local group may have in one
calendar year. Include as much information about your support of the event
as possible, since this will help your bid. Send copies of your bid and
Autocrat warrant to the Kingdom Seneschal, the Crown, and the Calendar
Deputy. The bids are not awarded by the Calendar Deputy, but by the Kingdom
Seneschal and the Crown. Any group sponsoring a Kingdom Event will be asked
to contribute a percentage of the event’s net profit to the Kingdom. You
should consult kingdom law on the percentage required.

Who sponsors Regional events?

Regional events are awarded in two different manners:

The Regional seneschal may grant an event held by one local group, regional
event status, if the event is truly regional in nature. Example's (Regional
Warlord, Regional A&S College)

3 different groups local seneschal may petition the regional seneschal for
an event to have regional status.

No region may have more than 3 regional events in a calendar year. Regional
events do not count against the number of Kingdom Calendar Events a local
branch may hold in a Calendar Year. The request for a Regional Event
Calendar Date is submitted by the Regional Seneschal to the Calendar Deputy.
Use the Request for a Kingdom Calendar Date form.

"So, when your doing a Local event, you go through the Local seneschal and
treasurer, with blessings from the Baron, and Kingdom events are through the
Kingdom seneschal and treasurer (with help at the local level) with
blessings
from the Crown."

Local events are the events sponsored by the hosting branch. The local
seneschal and Baron and Baroness (if there is a B&B) should be consulted and
grant their approval for a bid.

Kingdom Events are events defined by Kingdom law to have Kingdom status, but
may be sponsored by a local branch, a region, or directly by the Kingdom.
If a local branch wants to run a Kingdom Event, then the branch must get
local approval before sending the bid on to Kingdom.

Example of a Kingdom Event run by a local branch:
The Steppes ran Coronation last January – a Kingdom event but run with
Steppes money.

Example of a Kingdom Event run by the Kingdom:
Ansteorra ran Round Table last July at Threebridges, but the event was run
with Kingdom money.

“What about Known World events? Still handled through the Kingdom seneschal
and treasurer (with help at the local level)?”

Known World events are handled individually by each community. The Heralds
office organizes KW Heraldic one way. But in the dance community, it is
generally agreed upon informally by dancers that interact on an
Inter-Kingdom level.

However – even if you have the approval of the community or KW officer, you
must still follow kingdom rules for running an event. It is possible that
the Kingdom directly could host a Known World event. However, it is more
likely the local branch itself will sponsor the event.

“It is possible to bid as autocrat of an event directly to kingdom without a
host group. The kingdom would become the host group. That is relatively rare
in Ansteorra, but, for instance, Master Phillip White did that with the
Known World Dance Symposium hosted at UTA. This may make the local groups a
bit edgy because the manpower for these tend to come mostly from the local
area and bypassing the local group may cause scheduling problems, burnout,
or feelings that the local work done will not get noticed.”

This is inaccurate. A better example would be Mater Richard and HL Arabella
who both play with Elfsea, but who were warranted directly though the
Kingdom and not the Baron in order to Steward 25th year.

Known World Dance was hosted by the College of Threebridges. The event was
run as any Kingdom calendar event and the bid was approved by the group
seneschal. The finances adhered to the Threebridges financial policy and all
monies came from the College of Threebridges funds, not from the Kingdom
bank account. As with many Known World events, the main staff positions came
from within the community, rather than the local area. And, happily, it was
the first Known World Dance to make money – a surprising circumstance.

Hope this helped!
