Profile

Risk Theater Initiative had a tiny start-up a year ago, with a production of
Waiting for Godot that opened in Flower Mound and moved to Deep Ellum a few
months later. That production attracted great critical notice and is
currently nominated for a Leon Rabin Award for best drama. To mark Risk's
anniversary, artistic director Marianne Galloway is tackling a piece that
owes a lot to Godot, Tom Stoppard's early hit Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
Are Dead. The two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet stand around in
existential dread waiting for their scenes in the great play. It's deep and
very silly all at the same time. Since Ms. Galloway has established herself
as the most radically talented new director to hit Dallas in a while, this
one should be something.
