[Elfsea] Brewing?

Work has been that way (again - ugh!) for the last few weeks, so I
haven't sent out anything here about doing a little brewing.

In our last episode, Deanna set up a raspberry melomel that left me
craving fresh fruit on shortcakes for days, we tried a few different
beers, and tossed about a few ideas for the next time we met.

For the first few times we get together, I was thinking that it would
be good to actually do some brewing, and since this is still the first
few times, we should actually do some brewing... It's not hard, and
actually putting something into a carboy quickly dispels the idea that
there's something terrifically mysterious, and lets us all get down to
nefariously plotting the next impossibly potent yet tasty beverage
we're going to unleash on unsus... ah, right, that we'll share at a
nice dinner or with friends at an event, leaving a trail of drun...
Right. you get the idea.

Ursula has the ingredients for a mead, and I've got the grain bill for
a beer... Ursula has the idea that I should demonstrate doing a simple
beer (all grain, of course), that's most likely.

If someone else has a recipe they'd like to try, we've got a reasonable
brew pot, and most normal equipment, but whoever wants the final
product should bring their own carboy, fermentation lock and
ingredients.

Time would be this Thursday starting at 7:00 sharp, not SCA standard
time, because I've got to work overnight starting at 11:30.

After this meeting, I'm going to suggest that we move into some of the
practical topics, like sterilization, tools & equipment, sources for
tools, equipment and ingredients.

Directions were posted on this list earlier, and if you need them, I'll
dig them out and forward them to you.
