[Elfsea] norse dicing

Some good links on Viking games, including dice:

http://www.regia.org/games.htm
http://sd.znet.com/~savaskan/germans/gluckhaus.html
http://www-cs.canisius.edu/~salley/Articles/gluckshaus.html
http://www.treheima.ca/viking/pastimes.htm

As that last reference indicates, documentation of Norse dice rules is
minimal at best. Dice and dice cups are made mention of, and betting on
dice as well. Enjoy!

Subject: [Elfsea] norse dicing

In the old days of Ansteorra we used to dice. Red Orm and Ivar Battleskald
introduced me to it claiming it was a Norse game. I want to re-introduce
dicing but I can't remember the rules. Does anyone remember or know the
rules. As I remember you threw one die and then bet if you would be high or
low. I can not remember anything else. If you know any dicing games that
might be period they may do.

Any help would be useful
