[Elfsea] Elfsea A&S June 20: Fan Making

I invite everyone to join me for Fan Making at the
home of Dan and Shibhon at 7:30pm Tuesday, June 20.  

This is your chance to make a portable air conditioner
or a fancy piece to accesorise your outfit.

I will have some feathers, wood, and parts for making
a variety of fans.  I only ask for a small donation to
help defray the cost of my supplies that you use. 
Price depends of what you use.  ($0.25- $3.00 per
item)  Much is free to use.  

You are wellcome to bring any supplies that you would
like to use. Whether you have made fans before and
wish to make more, or have seen a few things you
thought might make a good fan. 


For the basic Feather fan you will need:
Fat quarter of fabric (brocades look best)
8-12 ostrich feathers (any color)
hackles or decorative feathers
2" chip brush or wooden spatula
iron on patch or buttons (optional)
2+ yards trim and ribbons
2" mirror (optional)

For a more period wood fan 
8-12 ostrich feathers
hackles or decorative feathers
wood decorations
wooden spatula or balsa wood and wooden dowel of
desired size
Example of samples of what you want are helpful


I will supply some mirrors and wood decorations and
feathers for a small fee.
Mirrors $0.50, feathers $0.50-3.00, wood parts
$0.25-1.00  

If you would like me to pick you up a set: 9 ostrich
feathers (specify color), mirror, and handle for $20

All supplies can be found at your local craft store. 
If there is any other type of fan you wish to explore
bring what you think you will need and we can go for
it.  this will be more of a creating class and less of
of a discussion and history lesson.
