Greetings to the People of the Twin Baronies! I bring you Greetings and
Welcome.

Now that Warlord is past it is time to look forward to new things and
events. After the success of the Scottish Festival demo, I'm hoping we can
continue success August 3rd - 5th in McKinney at the Lazy Dragon Relaxacon.
This is a pretty much anything goes kind of sci-fi, fantasy and whatever
con. There's no panels, shows or whatever like a normal one, it's basically
just one big party. You can check out the site here <www.lazydragon.com/con>.

The con is being held at the McKinney Holiday Inn. This is a convenient,
local event. It's right on 75 in McKinney. If you're planning to attend, and
don't want to drive home Saturday night, I would suggest calling the hotel
now and booking a room. Once you have a reservations, you can email me with
your mundane name and conformation number so the organizers can make sure
our rooms are all in the same general vicinity of each other (or you can go
off and hide somewhere else, your choice ;-)

We have great fighting planned. Saturday's fighting will be completely melee
demos. WE NEED FIGHTERS, both heavy and light. The aim of this whole thing
is to make the SCA look fun and entertaining. Style and penosh count. To
this end, we are planning the following:

"Blood of Heroes" games for both heavy and light (4 or 5 man teams, rules to
be posted, teams chosen at semi-random onsite, meaning we're NOT putting
four Knights or 4 Dons on the same team!)

Bridge battles for heavy and light.

"Save the Wench" fight to support the con's fund raising drive for the
Breast Cancer Research Foundation (more
here<http://www.lazydragon.com/con/charity.htm>and
here <http://www.bcrfcure.org/> )

A heavy tournament for a sword donated by the con organizers/sponsors,
format TBD. You can see the sword
here<http://www.lazydragon.com/con/sca_combat.htm>
.

We will also be sponsoring a party "room" hafla outside in our tents on
Saturday night. Cooks and brewers are HIGHLY encouraged to show off your
talents. Bring stuff to share. We need BARDS, lots of bards, GOOD bards.
Much storytelling to be done.

We will of course need A&S displays and artists to talk about what they've
made/done and maybe show others how it was done. If you have something you
can work on while at the con, even better. People are more intrigued by
seeing someone actually doing something, than by just the finished product.

Remember, for everything we do, SHOWMANSHIP COUNTS, especially in the
fighting and bardic performances. HAVE FUN. We're not competing for anything
really, so lets just have a good time and let the fun infect others.

There is NO site fee, since this is a demo, not just our little event. I
have worked out a nice deal with the event organizers for ticket discounts.
The normal tickets are $35 each. However, if we get 10 or more people
pre-registered by the end of the month, it's only $15 each! The catch is we
need to send it all in at once, so here's the deal. For those of you that
know you're going, please give me the money at Steppes populous this month
and I'll get you signed up and send the check to the sponsors. We'll hold
your passes at the door so you can pick them up. If you can't make populous,
contact me and we'll make arrangements.

If anyone has any other ideas for things to do, ways to contribute to the
fund raising (it's for a good cause, and it makes us look good), or have any
questions, please contact me.

I also need to know who's going, what you're going to do (bring A&S, talk to
people, fight, tell stories, bring food and/or brew, whatever) and what days
you're going to be there.

I hope to see everyone there!
